Surgeon's Notes

An upper arm lift is a surgical procedure that reduces the
excessive skin which has sagged downwards, and at the
same time, if there is also excessive fat tissue, this can also
be removed and rectified at the same time. After the surgery
the patient will be left with a scar, this is a straight-lined scar
on the inner side of the arm.

Unfortunately it is not possible to perform this operation
without scars. When you raise your arm this scar will be
visible and this is why the upper arm lift candidate should
decide before surgery if this will disturb them more than the
loose skin. However the scar does fade and can be hidden
and in cases, most candidates regain confidence in time.

The Surgery Process

The arm lifting surgery will be performed in hospital under
general anaesthetic and you should avoid taking aspirins or
similar medications. This can increase the bleeding after the
operation and it is also advised that you do not eat anything
for six hours before the surgery.

The operation time is 2 - 3 hours and you may also stay
1 - 2 nights in the hospital, following your surgery. During
and after surgery small thin tubes will be temporarily placed
under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may
collect. Dressings or bandages may be applied to your
incisions, and your arms will be wrapped in an elastic
bandage or a compression garment, this minimizes swelling
and bleeding. Bandages will be removed after three days,
after that a stock-formed elastic bandage will be used for
three weeks. It is not necessary to remove the stitches.

Generally during the operation you will not feel any pain,
but painkillers can be provided to cure the pain. You can go
back to your normal life in 3 - 4 days after the surgery, but
it is advised that you avoid carrying heavy objects and doing
strenuous exercise for approximately two months.

The scar on the inside of your arm will be swollen and red
at the beginning, but will fade in time and be less noticeable.

Your total stay in Istanbul will be approx 5 - 6 days.
